Eco Products

If given the choice between two products that do the same job, where one is labeled as eco-friendly and the other is not, most of us would choose the eco-friendly one, right?

So what makes a product an eco-friendly one?

Is it made from recycled materials?

For example: printer paper and cardboard boxes made from recycled paper.

Does it consume less energy?

For example: low wattage light bulbs, electrical appliances with an A energy rating, solar powered devices.

Is it made from natural as opposed to toxic components?

For example: organic cleaning products.

Is it made to last a lot longer than an equivalent product?

For example: again low wattage light bulbs.

Does it decompose quickly?

For example: cotton nappies (diapers) can be re-used many times and decompose in 1-6 months, disposables take up to 500 years to decompose!
There are many other ways a product can be eco-friendly but that should help explain.
