Eco Dummy - Learn about the Environment

CO2How do I produce CO2?

As individuals we produce carbon dioxide (CO2) either directly, by burning fossil fuels in our cars or indirectly by using electricity generated from burning fossil fuels.

The emissions that each person is responsible for depend on their habits and personal choices.

Things such as how much you drive and your cars fuel efficiency affect the level of carbon dioxide that you are responsible for.

So the most obvious way in which we produce CO2 is by driving, however we are responsible for much more CO2 via the choices we make on a daily basis.

Every time we switch on a light we use electricity which was produced by burning fossil fuels.

If we buy products that have lots of unnecessary packaging then more CO2 was used in the production of that packaging.

If we purchase for example concentrated products they use less packaging, and have fewer associated transport costs.

We can choose to purchase recycled products which use much less energy in their production and therefore produce les CO2. If possible we can switch to alternative energy sources such as solar power that do not produce any CO2 at all.
