Carbon EmissionsCarbon Emissions

Carbon emissions are carbon dioxide molecules (CO2) being released into the atmosphere. They are mainly created by burning fossil fuels.
According to Greenpeace 80% of the carbon emissions that humans are responsible for come from the combustion of fossil fuels and the rest from deforestation.

Trees whilst alive absorb carbon dioxide and when they are destroyed carbon dioxide is released back into the atmosphere. This is why there are carbon offset programs where you can in effect cancel out your carbon emissions by planting trees (well at least pay someone else to plant them on your behalf)

Alternative fuels such as solar power, wind power are clean energy sources. They have no carbon emissions associated with them and therefore are very important in the fight to reduce CO2 gases in our atmosphere.
